iOS 7 Obliterates Battery Life For iPhone 4S, iPhone 5 Survives

Just last week we talked about the battery life of the Apple iPhone 5 and iPhone 4 after people updated it to iOS 7. The test revealed that the iPhone 4S suffered badly from battery drain.

Tests also showed that for battery life the iPhone 5 was perfect, even though the battery of the iPhone 4S did drain down very fast. This article did get a great deal of feedback from those who own the devices and who had been plagued with battery drain when they had iOS 6 installed. So after checking this it soon became very clear to us how to fix the battery drain.

We spent hours with iOS 7 beta and we found that there was a huge difference in battery life. This is something that we saw when iOS 6 came out last year and it became an issue with those who own iPhones.

The issue is not the hardware and the problem arises when installing the update, such as the beta version of iOS 7 or iOS 6.

The tests showed us that the battery drain on the iPhone 5 and 4S with iOS installed did not have battery drain, however this was perhaps just down to luck. This seems to be something that occurs randomly and it depends on the conditions by which you install. There is however an easy way to install the iOS and not have issues with battery drain.

We found that we could stop battery drain issues on the two handsets easily, however you should not have to go through this and we are hoping that Apple will reveal a fix.

The first thing you need to do is back up your handset and then install iOS clean in DFU mode in iTunes. You should hold down the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button and when you see the Apple logo you then have to keep the Home button pressed in until iTunes tells you it is in recovery mode.

Install a brand new copy of iOS 6 and then install the beta version of iOS 7 and restore the data. You can downgrade from iOS 7 to iOS 6 if you made the back up in iTunes.

The battery drain of the iPhone 4S was something major and the battery drained down in mere hours. However you can remedy this is you make a clean install. It seems that the issue occurs if you have restored data and not make a clean installation first.

Have you been having issues with battery drain on your device?
