Owners of the locked versions of the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 and the Samsung Galaxy S3 can now unlock their device without it costing them a penny. When you have unlocked you are then able to move the handset to any carrier that you want around the world.
If for instance you bought the handset on AT&T then you will only be able to use it with that network. If you unlock it however and you are not tied into a contract then you can use it on any network and even send it overseas. So if you want to have a go at unlocking your device, check out the steps below.
Put any SIM card that is not your own into the handset. Turn the device off and back on again.
Go to the dialpad and type in *#197328640#. Go to the Main Menu > UMTS > Debug Screen > Phone Control > Network Lock > Options Perso SHA256 OFF. Wait for 30 seconds and then go to the Menu and choose Back. You should then see the Network lock. Choose NW Lock NV Data INITIALLIZ.
The sequence that you need to type is Asterisk Pound One Nine Seven Three Two Eight Six Four Zero Pound. There are some people that say that this is the asterisk or the star button, while the pound button is also the hash key.
You should now have unlocked your Galaxy Note 2 or the Samsung Galaxy S3 and be able to use the handset anywhere in the world. This code has been used for a long time by Samsung and so it could work with other devices.
